LET’S GO TO THE MOVIES....

The Wurlitzer Organ Trust of Auckland takes you back to the golden years of “going to the movies”, back in the days before sound, when the movies were “silent”. These motion pictures were brought to life, first by costly orchestras and then in the 1920s, by the MIGHTY Wurlitzer pipe organ. This unique pipe organ had all the tonal resources of the symphony orchestra and included its own Percussion Section of drums, cymbals, piano, harp, xylophone etc - all real "LIVE" percussion instruments - truly a one-man unit orchestra.

  • Ron Clark, “House Organist” at Auckland’s Hollywood Cinema, will present some music on the city’s historic 1926 Wurlitzer pipe organ, to set the scene for our main feature..
  • The 1918 early Charlie Chaplin classic comedy “A Dog’s Life”
